David van Dijk

2nd violin

David van Dijk was born in Dirksland (Netherlands) in 1976 and received his first violin lessons at the age of eight.

He studied in Utrecht with Viktor Liberman, in Hamburg with Mark Lubotsky and in Rotterdam with Ilja Grubert. He received several first and second prizes at national competitions. In 1995 he was awarded the “Zilveren Vriedenskrans” of the Concertgebouworkest Amsterdam.

The artist has given concerts with pianist Léon Bak throughout the Netherlands and has played in Paris, London and Nice. David van Dijk was a member of the European Community Youth Orchestra and the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra. From 2001 to 2003 he was a scholarship holder of the Orchestra Academy of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. Since February 2004 he has been a member of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.
