1st Principal trombone

Felix Eckert received his first trombone lessons from his father at the age of eight. He was a member of the Bundesjugendorchester  and won several prizes in the national competition “Jugend Musiziert”. After one year of studies, he enrolled at the Würzburg University of Music, studying with Prof. Andreas Kraft from 2010 to 2016. From 2016 until 2019 he worked at the Berlin University of the Arts with Prof. Stefan Schulz. Felix Eckert is an alumnus of the Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes and was awarded the “Eduard Söring Prize 2017/18”. He has been a member of the brass ensemble “Salaputia Brass” since its inception in 2011.

He began his orchestral career in 2012 as Principal Trombone at the Mainfranken Theater Würzburg. In 2013 he was accepted into the Academy of the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks. He was Principal Trombone of the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra in the State Opera and the Elbphilharmonie from 2015 to 2020. He has had regular temporary engagements with the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Staatskapelle Berlin, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, NDR-Elbphilharmonieorchester, HR-Sinfonieorchester, Bamberger Symphoniker, Münchner Philharmoniker, and the Wiener Philharmoniker, among others.

Since September 2020, Felix Eckert has been Principal Trombone of the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks in Munich as well as the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra. He has been teaching at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich since 2021.
