Francisco Esteban Rubio
Francisco Esteban Rubio was born in Zamora (Spain) and took his first bassoon lesson at the age of 8 in the local music school. After graduating from high school, he began his studies at the Madrid’s Royal Conservatory of Music with Salvador Aragó Muñoz. In 2012 he moved to Berlin, where absolved his master’s degree with Volker Tessmann at the Hochschule für Musik ’Hanns Eisler’ and after that, he studied with Dag Jensen at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich. He also attended master classes with Klaus Thunemann, Marco Postinghel, Gustavo Núñez and Sergio Azzolini.
From 2014 to 2016 he was academist at the Staatskapelle Berlin. In 2016 he got the position as bassoonist and contrabassoonist in the Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra. As a substitute, he plays with renowned orchestras like the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich or the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen.
He is a member of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra since 2019.
