Hanno Simons
Hanno Simons was born in Munich. At the age of six he began to play the cello and ten years later he began his junior studies at the Music Academy in Munich under Walter Nothas. In 1986 he stayed in the USA for three months and took part in the International Music Camp in Interlochen.
After his final exams he started his full studies with Walter Nothas, completing them three years later with special honors. He then moved to Martin Ostertag to the music academy in Karlsruhe, where he also passed his concert examination with special honors. Since 1996 Hanno Simons has been a member of the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks.
During his studies he took part in numerous master classes for cello and chamber music, among others with Uzi Wiesel, Milos Sadlo, William Pleeth, Ralph Kirshbaum and Gerhard Schulz. He also won several prizes at national and international competitions, including the International Cello Competition in Scheveningen/Holland. After the German Music Competition he was selected for the special concert series for young artists.
Hanno Simons gives concerts with various ensembles in Germany and Europe. He is a member of the Philharmonische Cellisten with Werner Thomas-Mifune, often plays in a duo with Wen-Sinn Yang and the harpist Una Prelle and founded the “Coriolis String Trio” along with Michaela Buchholz and Christiane Hörr.
