Lukas Maria Kuen

Piano

The pianist Lukas Maria Kuen has firmly established himself in concert life thanks to his artistic personality and enormous versatility. His pianistic spectrum ranges from his teaching activities as a professor of piano at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich to his multifaceted role as a pianist in the BRSO, which he has been a member of since 2010 and with which he also performed as a soloist under Mariss Jansons in Munich's Prinzregententheater in 2015.

Chamber music is a particular passion. His sense of balance, paired with expressive will and emotional devotion, which has been emphasized in many reviews, make him a respected and sought-after partner of renowned artists. His focus is also on discovering rarely performed works and formations. Founded in 2008, the internationally acclaimed duo with violinist Anna Sophie Dauenhauer delights audiences with original programmes in its concerts and has so far recorded four CDs that have been highly praised by the specialist press, including several world premiere recordings.

Lukas Maria Kuen studied at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich in the piano master classes with Michael Schäfer and Lied interpretation with Helmut Deutsch. This was followed by several awards and first prizes at competitions. His home town of Erlangen awarded him the cultural foundation's sponsorship prize in 2017. Numerous recordings on CD and recordings for radio stations document his pianistic repertoire.
