Samuel Lutzker

Violoncello

Samuel Lutzker has been a member of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra since spring of 2014. After early studies with Claus Reichardt in Düsseldorf, he went on to work with Jens Peter Maintz and Wolfgang Emanuel Schmidt in Berlin and Weimar.

He has held scholarships with the German Academic Scholarship Foundation, the Villa Musica Foundation and the Werner Richard–Dr Carl Dörken Foundation as well as winning prizes at national and international competitions that have included the Lake Constance Music Competition, the Khachaturian Competition and the Sinfonima Foundation Competition.

Samuel Lutzker appears regularly as a recitalist and concert soloist, but it is chamber music that forms the main focus of his work. He has appeared in various ensembles in Europe and Asia, taking part in concerts, CD recordings and radio broadcasts. Among his chamber music partners have been Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Atar Arad, Lynn Harrell and Thomas Riebl. Numerous invitations to attend the International Musicians Seminar at Prussia Cove in Cornwall in south-west England have proved uniquely inspiring.

Since 2016 Samuel Lutzker has been the violoncellist of the Munich-based Trio Gaon, a piano trio that won the first prize and two special prizes at the prestigious Premio Trio di Trieste International Competition in 2017. In 2018 the Trio Gaon won the second prize and audience prize at the Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition. The group’s recitals have taken him to leading concert halls in Europe and Asia.
