Since 23 years the Academy of the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks e.V. has been a springboard for up-and-coming young musicians from all over the globe. They receive a scholarship and a sound, two-year training that comprehensively prepares them for the profession. The academy has 18 training places to offer – and can proudly look back on more than 200 graduates from over 30 countries.

A group like this academy is the future of music. There is no question for me to want to be part of it.

Get a unique insight into Sir Simon’s rehearsal work. For the first joint project with the BRSO Academy, he chose a particularly challenging work: “Schubert’s Winterreise” by Hans Zender. We recorded the rehearsal on 16 December 2023 with the young musicians for you.
