Mozart – Glière – Korngold
Prizewinners of the ARD International Music Competition introduce themselves: Time and again, the ARD International Music Competition in Munich becomes the scene of musical performances that make you forget that it’s all about jury points and minimizing mistakes. Suddenly, all competitive thinking is forgotten and the musical experience takes center stage. Suddenly the space opens up for adventure, daring, spontaneity and perfect musical moments. Three such highlights with first prize winners are united on this CD.
Order online nowAfter 40 years, there was again a first prize winner in clarinet in 2008: Sebastian Manz. He played Mozart’s Clarinet concerto on the original basset clarinet, accompanied by the young shooting star of the conducting scene, Cornelius Meister.
In September 2009, French harpist Emmanuel Ceysson enchanted the audience with opulence and dazzling richness of color in Reinhold Glière’s rarely performed Harp concerto.
And Hyeyoon Park, at 17 one of the youngest finalists in the competition’s history, showed true wunderkind qualities in Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s Violin concerto, bursting with Hollywood charm.
