After 40 years, there was again a first prize winner in clarinet in 2008: Sebastian Manz. He played Mozart’s Clarinet concerto on the original basset clarinet, accompanied by the young shooting star of the conducting scene, Cornelius Meister.

In September 2009, French harpist Emmanuel Ceysson enchanted the audience with opulence and dazzling richness of color in Reinhold Glière’s rarely performed Harp concerto.

And Hyeyoon Park, at 17 one of the youngest finalists in the competition’s history, showed true wunderkind qualities in Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s Violin concerto, bursting with Hollywood charm.
