Natalie Schwaabe
The flautist Natalie Schwaabe was born in Tokyo. She grew up in Hong Kong, where she started her musical training. In addition to completing her studies under Professor Paul Meisen at the conservatory in Munich with the master class diploma in 1993, she studied with Aurèle Nicolet and Trevor Wye.
In 1996 she received the special prize of the jury at the international music competition “Prager Frühling” and in 1998 she was a prizewinner at the 1st International Carl Nielsen Flute Competition in Odense, Denmark.
Natalie Schwaabe was invited by Hans Werner Henze to play at the 17th Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte (Montepulciano), and she also performed for Neues Musiktheater at the 3rd and 4th Munich Biennale International Festival.
She began her orchestral career in 1991 as solo flautist with the Münchner Symphoniker, moving to the Münchner Rundfunkorchester in 1993. Since November 1996 she has been flautist and piccolist in the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks. In addition to her work in the orchestra Natalie Schwaabe has given regular performances as a soloist and chamber musician, and has been accompanied by the Nürnberger Symphoniker and the Stuttgarter Kammerorchester.
Since the autumn of 1999 she has taught piccolo at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München.
