Programme
Performers
Due to a shoulder injury, Carsten Duffin unfortunately had to cancel his participation in the concerts with Iván Fischer. We will perform Györgi Ligeti’s “Hamburg Concerto” for horn and chamber orchestra with Iván Fischer and Carsten Duffin in a future season. We are delighted to welcome Zoltán Fejérvári as a soloist, who will play Ernst von Dohnányi’s “Variations on a Children’s Song” for piano and orchestra.
Information about the programme
With his unusual programming and universal musical approach, Iván Fischer has been one of the BRSO’s highly esteemed guest conductors for many years. This concert covers a particularly broad range: French repertoire with Satie’s statuesque simplicity, a little-known early work by Debussy and the iridescent imaginary Arcadia of Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé form a focal point. Iván Fischer dedicates the first part of the programme to his Hungarian compatriot Ernst von Dohnányi – with two entertaining pieces full of wit and versatility. The highly virtuosic piano part of the variations on a children’s song is also played by a Hungarian: the internationally successful Zoltán Fejérvári, who has received great praise for his Janáček and Schumann recordings, among others.
