New 2024-2025 season of the BRSO
Sir Simon Rattle with the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks.
Arriving is a process. You have a goal in mind, you walk a path until you reach a point where you stop for a moment, look around and ask: What now? Sir Simon Rattle has arrived at the BRSO with the 2023/2024 season. With such an energy! With a remarkable presence! With a huge musical range! It feels as if a breeze from the northwest of England has blown fresh air under the wings of all of us – performers and listeners alike: awake, playful, determined and so engagingly human.
His second season promises a maximally broad repertoire, ranging from Bach, Brahms and Mahler to Ravel, Stravinsky and Lili Boulanger. With new projects from “BRSO und du”, musica viva, the Academy and our Watch This Space series. As well as a brand new initiative by the chief conductor: “BRSO hip”.
Arriving is an ongoing process. A stroke of luck! We would be delighted if you would join us!

“BRSO hip”
What is behind “BRSO hip”? Not only the abbreviation for “historically informed performance”, but above all the initiative of chief conductor Sir Simon Rattle, to expand the BRSO programme to include baroque music. He himself starts with three of most beautiful cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach. The second hip matinee will be conducted by Andrea Marcon
