Lukas Richter

Double Bass

Lukas Anton Richter was born into a family of musicians in Cologne in 1991. He received his first violin lessons at the age of 7 and became a choirboy of the Cologne Cathedral Choir at the age of 10. At the same time as his choral activities, he was a sought-after boy soloist and sang with the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne in the Cologne Philharmonic Hall and the Cologne Opera.

At the age of 12 he received his first double bass lessons at the music school of the Cologne Cathedral Choirs and attended the renowned music boarding school Wells Cathedral School in Wells, UK as a teenager. After graduating from high school, he began his studies at the Hochschule für Musik Nürnberg with Prof. Dorin Marc. Further impulses came from master classes with Bozo Paradzik, Catalin Rotaru and Duncan McTier, as well as chamber music lessons with Dirk Mommertz (Fauré Quartet). During his studies he gained orchestral experience as a member of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and was a scholarship holder of the Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Foundation with the double bass quartet “Bass Partout”.
In the 2015/2016 season he was a member of the Joseph-Keilberth-Orchesterakademie of the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra, before being engaged in 2016 for a temporary contract with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, where he has been a permanent member since 2017.

In addition to his activities in the orchestra, he is particularly involved in early music, e.g. with the baroque ensemble “L’accademia giocosa”, which plays on historical instruments, and chamber music in general. For example, he played at the Musiktage Mondsee with the Auryn Quartet and together with artists such as Anna Lucia Richter, Reinhold Friedrich, Benjamin Schmid, Juliana Koch, Andrea Lieberknecht and Dag Jensen.

Congratulations!

The tour in May 2018 will probably be remembered by double bassist Lukas Richter. During the trip, he learned that he passed his probationary year in the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks.
